RMT and Owner
Emily Anne York
Emily graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in December of 2014. Since graduation she has taken numerous continuing education courses within, and outside, her field of work as an RMT. As a lifelong learner her education has included technique based training like lumbopelvic stabilization to reduce low back pain, yoga teacher training, pregnancy massages, as well as addressing trauma and PTSD affected patients in the clinical environment. Additionally, she has also pursued education in addiction, communication, leadership and emotional intelligence.
Emily is passionate about working with anyone affected by chronic pain conditions, overuse injuries, hypersensitivities, anxiety and depression. She strives to work with her clients to specifically address their unique needs and goals, both within the treatment and in their activities of daily living.
She believes in taking an evidence based, patient centered approach to treatment, with the intent of giving them the tools they need to manage their personal health and well being.
Lifestyle
Emily Anne grew up with the mindset you can have more than one passion, and she lives that out daily. She is passionate about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, her gym community, running and hiking. She also plans to try out mountain biking with her move to Kamloops. In her early twenties, Emily began an extensive journey of self growth that continues to this day. Through this she discovered a passion for movement, understanding women’s hormonal health, and how our environment is connected to our physical health. Along the way she achieved a personal milestone of losing 100Lbs. She has experienced first hand how strength training can be used to rehab through injuries and how important movement is when working through complex mindbody concerns like anxiety, body dysmorphia, and chronic pain. Additionally, Emily is an artist at heart and enjoys expressing that through baking, weaving, quilting and macrame.
